Lanvin to be H&M's Newest Collaborative Designer

H&M has officially confirmed that their next high-fashion collaboration will be with the French brand, Lanvin. The brand will be designing mass market womenswear and menswear collections, providing luxurious pieces at affordable prices. Lanvin’s artistic director, Alber Elbaz. has stated in the past that Lanvin would never produce a mass market collection; but, after confirming the collaboration, he is quoted as saying, “What intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public.”
Although nothing has been confirmed concerning the design details of the collection, most are expecting the same exquisite French-cut designs from Lanvin’s high-fashion line. Their Winter 2010 women’s collection consists of hard, tailored angles, pleating, draping, and fur. The color palette is mainly black and grey – dark hues, but offers some muted metallic pieces, as well.
The angles and lines of the high-fashion collection accentuate the shoulders. This look can be achieved with fall/winter’s must-have item – the fitted blazer. Choose a blazer with small shoulder pads or an extended, tailored shoulder -- but be careful! The goal is to look chic and fashionable, not like a football player.
Also seen in Lanvin’s 2010 Winter women’s collection is elbow-length leather gloves. This style has been seen on numerous runways as the perfect fall accessory. The classically-styled glove adds an ultimate touch of sophistication to any fall look. Try the leather elbow-length gloves in tan or burgundy.
While all these styles are from the high-fashion collection, the looks for the H&M collection will not be available to consumers until November 20. Until then, use these fashion-forward tips to achieve a similar Parisian look!
